Welcome to my blog...

(painting: Crows in the Wheatfield by Vincent Van Gogh – painted two weeks before his death by suicide on July 29, 1890)

Crows in the Wheatfield
By Me  (reflection on a painting by Vincent Van Gogh)

Black colored crows
Hover over the yellow wheat field
Flocking dark omens
Corroding an already empty soul

In your watercolor world
Each brushstroke silently screams
The despondent blue sky weeps
The wheat stalks bow in concession
As blood red earth heaves

I can almost see you in the field
Pallid and obscure
Pistol in hand; raised to action
And the crack of gunfire
Signaling your departure

I wrote this after visiting the Vincent Van Gough Exhibit at a local museum.  While staring at this painting and listening to the story behind it that was pouring through the earphones of the self-guided tour, I found myself sensing very strong emotions.  It was at this point that I fell in love with this artist.

I rarely experience very strong emotions.  Well, that is not completely true.  The only emotion I seem to experience throughout the core of my being is anger and coupled with that a paralyzing frustration that never seems to subside.

In my journey to find some relief from my constant inward torments, I have started this blog.  I have a video blog, but with the spoken word I am clumsy. This venue puts me in my comfort zone and will allow me to use my life-long companion, The Written Word, as the scalpel to exorcise my demons.

This is my first entry.  I hope you will come back for more.
